The Three Biggest Take-Away’s for Building Your Real Estate Business!

If you are a Solopreneur, I would suggest that attending conferences and educational events offer huge ROI that you can take back to your office to begin seeing results from immediately! Do yourself a favor next time you are considering going to a professional event, go ahead and do it!

Not only did I enjoy speaking at a recent conference and sharing my own expertise, I sat in on a few of the sessions to glean what I could for the better of all solopreneur’s businesses!

Here are my three biggest take-aways from a fun-filled weekend at the Banff Western Connection for REALTORS ® which featured other great experts such as:

There is no quick fix. No magic bullet. No wand of wizardry.

Your success is ALL UP TO YOU! Your level of business will be a direct result from the actions you implement each and every day. Your daily habits will determine your yearly results.  So, if you aren’t content with your annual results, then increase the level of your daily habits. Choose actions that will directly affect your bottom line such as: strategically posting on social media (doesn’t have to be everything at once, just start with one platform and grow from there!), using white boards in your office, or beefing up your lead generating.

Mentorship.

Manjit Minhas, co-founder and CEO of  Minhas Breweries and one of CBC’s Dragons,  shared her road to celebrity and some entertaining ups and downs. When she whittled down her wisdom, her first point of action to help build success was to find a Mentor. I agree that finding a Mentor who can give honest feedback, who is successful in business and who is not in competition with you will give you direction and valuable insight. You can look for a mentor who is an agent from another city, you can hire a business coach, or you can connect with your brokerage manager. Your mentor can change yearly and you can even have multiple mentors at one time. Even getting education from a speaker or reading a good book can be like having a mentor for the moment!

Keep up with Technology and Think Like a Champion!

There is so much that can be taken advantage of right now when it comes to using video, strategizing your brand over social media and connecting with your community authentically. Come up with 2 or 3 ideas and just begin implementing SOMETHING! Personal video greetings are amazing, clearly defining your brand online is important, and ultimately if you can THINK like a champion, you will make the choices that will help you become a champion. If you just spent 30 min looking up the above-noted speakers you could gather all kinds of excellent ideas for your social media. It’s one thing to have a good idea, but a good idea doesn’t work, unless you do!

I appreciate all the experts who shared their insights openly and energetically! I am on a mission to increase the success rate of real estate agents – currently a study I read from the National Association of REALTORS ® exposed a 87% failure rate! I would like to be catalyst to seeing that double in the next decade.

One way to get a boost to the mindset and skill set of agents is to attend a conference. If we missed each other at this year’s Banff Western Connection, the next one will be in January 2019 (mark it in your calendar),  next I will be at Toronto’s REALTOR ® QUEST , this May 2017 speaking, I hope to see you there!
